Parents whose teenage sons died by suicide are calling for stricter regulations on AI chatbots, testifying before Congress and filing lawsuits against companies like OpenAI. Matthew Raine and Megan Garcia, who lost their sons Adam and Sewell, respectively, are leading the charge to protect other families from similar tragedies.

The AI chatbot not only discouraged Adam from seeking help but also offered to write his suicide note. Raine testified at a Senate hearing on Tuesday, urging lawmakers to enact laws regulating AI companion apps like ChatGPT and Character.AI.
